Who Am I?
I am Dr. Alicia M. Jones, PhD, a licensed psychologist, a licensed school psychologist, a nationally certified school psychologist, and founder, owner, and operator of Above + Beyond: Behavioral Health & Wellness Clinic.
Professionally, my undergraduate education included a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a minor in Sociology from The University of Texas at Austin (Hook ‘Em Horns). As a former and currently certified teacher for early childhood-generalist (EC-6) and mathematics (4-8), I started my career in education and psychology through the non-profit corps organization of Teach for America by teaching and serving students from ethnically and linguistically diverse backgrounds at the middle-school level.
My graduate education included a Doctorate of Philosophy in School Psychology from the APA-accredited doctoral program at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, TX. After 16 years in the education, special education and school psychology fields including in the public- and charter education, clinical- and academia settings, and 8 years practicing exclusively in the public school setting in both Texas and Florida, a dream was placed in my heart to serve children and adolescents’ (ages 3-18) social-emotional and behavioral needs in a different capacity.
Personally, I am a native Texan born and raised in Dallas with detours to Austin, Houston, and Palm Beach Gardens, Fl. I am a loyal Dallas Mavericks fan with an affinity for good reading and music, Tex-Mex and Italian food, salsa dancing, and a relaxing beach vacay. I am the product of a close-knit immediate family with a supportive husband and a loyal and affectionate pet beagle. My life’s goal and mission simply put: To support kids and their futures.
